Favorite Place In Champaign-Urbana
Describe a favorite place in Champaign-Urbana (or your town, if you live outside CU). What do you like about it? What makes it unique?
Champaign-Urbana is a town where there is prairie & farmland, historical buildings/landmarks, and a campus full of many people and buildings. The town is mid-sized not as big as Chicago but definitely not a small town like Tolono. Champaign-Urbana houses a lot of different people of all backgrounds especially since we have the University of Illinois which brings people from all over.
One of my favorite places in Champaign-Urbana is miniature golf at Old Orchard Lanes. It is put together well and is scenic with the waterfalls and turf walkways. The miniature golf course is 18 holes which is a good amount of holes because you can enjoy it for awhile. There is 2 different courses you can go on and they have different obstacles on each. The courses are about the same level but I always think the course on the right is more fun. It is one of the only miniature golf courses in Champaign-Urbana. I think there is one more in town but it is all the way across town from my house.
I have been mini-golfing a lot more recently so I am trying to get my golfing skills improved. Since I have been mini-golfing more I have lots of memories with my friends there, that even include beating them. My friends and I always talk about our epic mini-golfing afternoons and evenings. We will have lasting memories there that I hope to continue when it gets warmer in the spring. I really like that the mini-golf place also offers food and bowling inside the main building, The mini-golf is outside so in the colder weather it gets harder to go to sadly.
The miniature golf at Old Orchard Lanes is pretty unique compared to others. It has a lot of water near the course so it makes it easy for the ball to fall in so on your shots you have to be careful which is a fun challenge. It also has some interesting obstacles to help it get into the hole. It is also unique because it has a nice quaint feel. It doesn't feel too big or too small. I have been to some others that have felt to small but this one feels just the right size. If you haven't gone to the miniature golf course at Old Orchard Lanes, you should definitely check it out! :)
Great post! I really liked your last paragraph where you explained why the Old Orchard mini golf is your favorite place to go mini golfing and what makes it so unique. I’m terrible at mini golf so I’d probably hit my ball into the water on my first try, but the course sounds really pretty and fun! Also, have you tried Arrowhead Lanes? It might be the one you mentioned all the way across town from you, but they have indoor blacklight mini golf for when it gets colder (and I think they have 18 holes as well).
ReplyDeleteYour descriptions of the miniature golf course at Old Orchard Lanes make it sound really fun! For someone who's never been mini-golfing before, I liked how you included an overview of what the miniature golf course looks like.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed how descriptive this was, I could essentially picture how most of the course looks like without having been there yet. I also like how you bring up past experiences golfing and improvements you had along the way!
