Thankfulness

Thankfulness is a word we usually start to think about around thanksgiving because thanks is something we celebrate with thanksgiving. We start to do this in our culture. We see on TV and in the newspaper that they talk about thankfulness which leads us to think about thankfulness. On a personal note, at the thanksgiving dinner table in my family, we say one thing we have been grateful for. This has been a yearly tradition we do which helps my family remember the good things that have happened this year.

Something that I am thankful for is for lessons that have been learned through out my life. There are multiple lessons I have learned recently that really have helped define me as a person. I think lessons are really important to have and if you never encounter trial lessons in your life won't show as much growth. Lessons allow you to grow and change yourself to a better version.

Thankfulness can be shown in many ways. It can be shown verbally, in writing, in photos, or in your head. For me I show my thankfulness in my head. I think about it and reflect on the past and the things that have happened. I think about how I am always learning and how I can apply the lessons to the future. I also show it in writing. Sometimes I journal what I'm thankful for so I can put it up on the wall to look at everyday. Writing down what I am thankful for really helps me remember the good things. Doing this leads to me being able to have a more positive outlook on life.

Thankfulness can be easy to forgot because we may just be going through our lives and be upset and angry at the things that are happening. There is always something to be thankful for. There is always good things happening despite the negative we only seem to see. The negative seems to shine everywhere but each day try to list a few things you are thankful for. Being thankful and thinking about it can help your attitude and mental health. This has helped me a lot develop the things I am thankful for. Try to dive deeper than just your family, or friends. Even though those are somethings you should be thankful for!

  3. Being thankful for life lessons is something I didn't think of, but is definitely something that resonates. I like how you wrote this post to sort of guide on how we think about thankfulness. It's a good reminder to just stop and be grateful for the things we sometimes didn't realize we had.

  4. I would never be smart enough for life lessons to be one of the first things to pop into my head when pondering what I'm thankful, but it makes complete sense. I liked your conclusion paragraph's summary of the idea of thankfulness and the positive outlook it gave. Great post.
